Abstract

This conception of social cohesion in Robert Castel, French intellectual who has influenced the analyzes of this issue in Brazil. Shows the limits and possibilities of this theory in confronting social issues. Spells out the vicinity of the functionalist theory with the thought represented by Parsons. Concluded by the weakness of the theory  of Roberte Castel and points need of a critical theory that underlies the resurgence of social movements in opposition to the rentier capitalism.
