Expansion of Social Welfare and the challenges of Social Work

Abstract

This article addresses the debate over social welfare policy and its
expansion process and the relationship with social security, producing reflections on the professional social worker. Presents some results and analysis of research on social welfare policy and professional practice of social workers. For its implementation we used the qualitative research from library research and documentation, using interviews and focus groups. The study showed that social workers identify the social assistance policy in the construction process, many advances were seen especially in policy management, yet many challenges are posed to the professionals.
